Kavica is a Zagreb coffee shop built around one simple idea done properly: Brazilian specialty coffee, roasted locally, served as a cappuccino, latte, or flat white by people who care about the cup in front of you. There's no webshop, no shipping, just a place you walk into and come back to. The site and the social presence both had to make you want to do exactly that.
The brief
Kavica needed a site that felt like the shop itself: warm, minimalist, inviting, in Croatian, and built for a local audience rather than an e-commerce funnel. Since the coffee is served in-shop and not sold online, the site's job isn't to convert a sale, it's to build familiarity and loyalty, to make someone in Zagreb think of Kavica specifically the next time they want a proper flat white. Alongside the site, I also took on running the brand's Instagram, @kavica.coffee, so the visual language had to work as one system across both.
What I built
I built the site in Webflow with custom CSS, which let me push past Webflow's stock components toward something that felt handmade rather than templated. Specialty coffee shops sell atmosphere as much as product, so the design leans on warm tones, generous whitespace, and photography of the space and the drinks rather than text-heavy selling. Custom CSS gave me control over the small details that make a minimalist design feel intentional instead of empty: spacing, type scale, and subtle motion on scroll and hover.
Since there's no online ordering, the site's structure is simple by design: what Kavica is, where it is, what's on offer, and enough personality to make someone curious. I kept the Croatian copy conversational rather than corporate, matching how people actually talk about their neighborhood coffee spot.
Running the Instagram alongside the site meant thinking about the brand as a continuous feed rather than a one-off build. I used the same warm, minimalist visual language on social that I used on the site, so someone discovering Kavica through Instagram and someone landing on the site get the same read on the brand.
The result
Kavica now has a consistent identity across web and social: minimalist, warm, and genuinely inviting rather than trying too hard. For a shop whose entire business depends on people walking in and coming back, that consistency is the point. The site gives Kavica a real home online even without a checkout button, and the social presence keeps the brand in front of the people who matter most: the regulars.
