Dani Remeta is a neighborhood sports and community festival in Remete, Zagreb, and I co-founded it, branded it, and built the whole site myself. Six days, six competitions, one kvart showing up for itself.
The brief
A festival needs a home before it needs anything else: something that sells the week to people who have never heard of it, makes team registration painless enough that captains actually finish the form, and gives everyone on the pitch a way to check the bracket without shouting across the field. Before the site existed, that job fell to a group chat and a shared spreadsheet. Fine for year one, not something you can run six competitions on.
What I built
I did this end to end, alone: branding, design, and the fullstack build on Next.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind, deployed on Vercel. The voice had to be right from the first sketch, loud, local, built around #nemafreecuge and the tagline "Kvart. Sport. Priča." That line is not decoration, it is the whole pitch for the festival in three words.
The site carries all six competitions on equal footing: MNT Remete, the futsal tournament that is the main event, 3 on 3 basketball, FC 26 e-sports in both 1v1 and 2v2, a Bela card tournament, and Beerpong. Each needed its own place in the schedule without the site turning into a wall of text.
The homepage runs a live countdown to kickoff, so the site gets more urgent the closer the date gets. Team registration is a short form wired straight into email, so a captain signs up and gets instant confirmation, no waiting on me to reply to a DM. During the festival, a live results page is the one people actually keep open on their phones, updated as matches finish so a team knocked out of futsal in the morning still knows what is happening in the Bela finals that night. A gallery carries photos from past editions, and a map gets people to Remete without a group chat pin.
The evenings are their own layer on top of the competitions: grill food, a barber on site, live music, a DJ, and an afterparty. The site treats those as part of the schedule too, not an afterthought bolted onto a sports bracket.
The result
Dani Remeta now runs on a site built for exactly how the festival operates, not a template stretched to fit. Registration moved off DMs and onto the site. Results moved off paper and onto a screen anyone can check mid match. The Instagram, @dani.remeta, carries the same voice as the site, and #nemafreecuge shows up in both. It reads like one thing built by one person who actually goes to the festival, because it is.
